Management and supervision start up on the river cruises

as2con and R-Shipping life-cycle services team perform management and supervision start up on the river cruises m.v. Yangzi Explorer, m.v. Athena, Artemis and Arthusa. On the river cruises m.v. Paul Gaguin, m.v. Victorija, m.v. Allegro they carried out complete refit.

Repair of 20 meters of thermal oil piping in keel tunnel and weld strengthening applied in the bow thruster tunnel

as2con successfully conducted repairs using COMPA methodology on a multipurpose vessel m/v Rebecca owned by "Intersee Schiffart Haren Ems" from Germany. The work was done in the shipyard "Lošinjska plovidba", in Lošinj, Croatia.

A five-day work included COMPA weld strengthening applied in the bow thruster tunnel of weld seams between stainless and mild steel surfaces as well as COMPA repair of 20 meters of thermal oil piping in keel tunnel.

Refit of a ship exhaust system for GCCL

A new ship care project for the owner Grand Circle Cruise Line, USA, is currently in progress. The project relates to the concept development and refit of the exhaust system of the passenger cruise ship. New design includes also the use of advanced steel material and it will secure reliable operations for the years to come. The actual fitting to the vessel is expected in January 2012 at the Brodotrogir shipyard in Croatia.

The reduced lifetime of the exhaust system occurred due to the current position of the external cover of the exhaust system, where exhaust gases erode the shell plate. Our solution will include separation and new position of the covers, which will in the end enable smooth egress of the exhaust without direct contact with the shell plating.

Composite patch repair of main sea water pipe on board

Due to our expertise in innovative composite material technology for repair and reinforcement of metal structures, the as2con team was engaged in the renewal process of the main sea water intake pipe on a Grimaldi ship. The successful repair included: i) cleaning the pipe surface area, ii) repairing and laminating the damaged pipe surface with glass and carbon fibre.

Composit materials tank renewal on the river cruise ship in Egypt

as2con team, composed of eight people, has renewed a sewage tank on the river cruise ship for the Grand Circle Line Cruise company in Egypt. By measuring the thickness of steel tank plating and other steel structures inside of the tank, the thickness lower than established acceptance criteria has occurred. as2con team proposed a solution to this problem by using composite materials lamination for steel construction reinforcement. The shipowner prefered this method because of the short time period that this type of tank renewal takes as well as the favourable renewal cost.

Successful implementation of innovative composite technology: Piping renewal

A commercial project on repair of damaged pipelines has been successfuly implemented by as2con team on the damaged ballast pipeline 510 m long on a  ship owned by Tankerska plovidba, with dual class of Croatian Register of Shipping (CRS) and Bureau Veritas (BV). Application was class approved by CRS. The repair of piping (on the picture) was realised in a period of 10 days.
as2con team offers expertise in composite material technology for repair and reinforcement of metal structures. Composite patch technology is an innovative, environmentaly stable and permanent repair and reinforcement measure for metal structures such as decks, pipes, joints, cranes and bridges.

European project CO-PATCH

as2con is one of the partners in project CO-PATCH funded by the FP7 Programme which deals with the definition of the new effective repair and/or reinforcement composite patch method for large steel structures.
