CAFE

bella_2

CAFE is an innovative software for simple and rapid generation of ship concepts. The software relies on an easy-to-design logic which enables a user-friendly design environment. 3D ship and equipment models can be imported into the system. CAFE automatically generates classification drawings that include equipment arrangement.

CAFE is used by:

  • EU FP7 projects - ULYSSES and SAFEWIN
  • University of Rijeka, Croatia
  • Centre of Maritime Technologies, Hamburg, Germany
  • Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland
  • Naval Architecture Progress, Greece
  • De Naval ltd., Rijeka, Croatia
  • Intergraph Italia LLC, Italy

ng.zine: System for concurrent and group design of engineering structures (2007-)

as2con is developing a specialized design system for concurrent and group design of engineering structures, at the moment concentrating on design of ships. The system enables real-time integration of various design tools through an XML based platform and parametric data base, allowing for concurrent design of various ship’s sub-systems. ng.zine allows therefore multi-designer environment. The control of such activity is conducted through a novel group design methodology based on multi-stakeholder decision making.

TVIX: Optimization tool for early design of stiffened and sandwich panels (2006-2007)

as2con is developing a software tool for design and optimization of laser-welded sandwich panels and stiffened panels. This software tool, initiated at Helsinki University of Technology in 1995, is capable of rapid optimization of panel scantlings and geometry for minimum weight and minimum production costs, accounting for the imposed loads and strength. The tool is at the moment capable to consider basic pressure loadings and simply supported boundary conditions for the beam with two and three symmetric supports. The following core geometries are currently available: VF, V, T, I, O, C, X. The tool is simple to use in a manner of calculator returning the optimum panel design within a few seconds. User has to choose the type of profile for the core plate and to provide the minimum and maximum scantlings including the type of material usted. Additionally, if user is interested into production characteristics, it is necessary to input some production data, such as for instance cost for 1 m of welding. The tool can also consider the additional core material for sandwich panels, such as foams, balsa wood, etc. The tool is organized in several logical steps, including the definition of geometry, production parameters, loads and supports.

Mesher: Tool for automated fine-mesh generation in finite element modeling (2006)

4 as2con is developing a specialized tool for fast and accurate re-meshing of an existing finite element model. The main purpose of this software is to recreate the fine mesh into half, one third, one quarter or any other smaller size ratio of new element dimension with respect to the original element size. The usage of this tool is very simple as the user is only required to define a boundaries of a box within which the model needs to be re-meshed. Software will then automatically re-mesh all the elements inside the defined box, but what is important it will also recreate transitional elements along the boundaries of the box. Hence, the user is therefore not required to manually recreate the transitional elements between the original larger to new smaller elements. This software then saves a redefined model within a new file so that user can always return to the original models. This software was tested with LS-DYNA models for the numerical simulation of accidental loading on ship structures.

MGV VISUALIZER – CFD Pre-processor

MGV is a computer program developed in cooperation with Bureau Veritas, Paris and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, Zagreb. The Moloh's purpose is a fast generation of hydrodynamic mesh for CFD analysis of ship and offshore structures. Also it is postprocessing visualization tool that can visualize element: types, groups, properties, normal verification etc. MGV uses OpenGL framework and XML database format.

MGV LINER – Digitalization of Scanned Hull Forms

6 MGV Liner is a preprocessor for MGV. It does a fast and accurate digitalization of scanned hull form lines. It can make a conversion from jpg, gif, tiff, png and other graphical bitmap image formats to vector based graphics of ship hull form lines.

FE-BOILER – STCALC

STCALC is a integral part of FE-BOILER -> Fast and Easy Boiler Design, which is a computer application developed for SAACKE MARINE SYSTEMS, TPK-Nova Ltd. Zagreb. STCALC is a computer program module for strength calculation and classification of pressure vessels according to the following classification societies: DNV, GL, LR, BV, CCS, RMS, ABS and RINA. It has inbuilt chart assistant for reading diagrams provided by classification societies and a formatted report generator for classification approval. Report can be generated in MS Word or PDF. Also STCALC has preloaded material library for tube plates according to EN, DIN, NV etc.

FE_BOILER – TUBE PLATE LAYOUT

8 TUBE PLATE LAYOUT is a integral part of FE-BOILER -> Fast and Easy Boiler Design, which is a computer application developed for SAACKE MARINE SYSTEMS, TPK-Nova Ltd. Zagreb.TUBE PLATE LAYOUT is a program module for boiler tubes optimal distribution according to thermal calculation. Distribution can be achieved by setting the minimal boiler diameter or required number of tubes for distribution. After achieving optimal distribution, program uses it's interfaces to AutoCAD or Solid Works to automatically generate a drawing of such boiler and all the tubes involved without an user interference.

TOPLISE – Utilization and Maximization of Thermal Plant Efficiency

10

TOPLISE is a computer application developed for Elektroprojekt Inc. Zagreb. It is based on PROTEUS FORTRAN solver developed by Gilbert Services Inc. with a purpose of thermal plant energy utilization and maximization of the complete system efficiency. This program is capable of using SI and US based units. Our company has reused the FORTRAN solver and developed a new graphical user interface. The new GUI has block based thermal elements such as turbines, heat exchangers, burners and other equipment that can be handled by drag and drop technique and also their parameter data can be easily accessed and changed by simple mouse actions.
