as2con initiated its activities in 2003, when it was set up by a group of researchers with vigour for challenges, advancements in science, business and technology.

ENGINEERING ANALYSIS AND DESIGN
Development of advanced structural concepts by utilizing engineering analysis, optimization and decision support systems. Performance of a complete ship design process from conceptual to detailed design phase.

SOFTWARE
Development of various engineering software with an emphasis on user-oriented ship design software. Official resellers of other well-known software for ship design.

SHIP CARE
Supervision and management of new building and ship refits. Repairs include composite patching and overlay technology. Additional services include vibration and noise measurements and analysis.

Design, strength assessment, product documentation and manufacturing of composite yachts and parts.

as2con HISTORY
2003
-
as2con is envisioned by Alan Klanac and Sören Ehlers while researching for their doctoral degrees in the Helsinki University of Technology as the advanced structural and shipbuilding consulting.

First small jobs are acquired at the time. as2con brand is noted first as a web domain as2con.com, and all business activities are conducted through Sören’s personal engineering office registered in Germany.
2006
-
Nataša Golik Klanac and Alan Klanac set up a family llc. company in Croatia, Alveus d.o.o. to formalize their share of investment into as2con.

Darko Frank joins the company and Zagreb office is set-up in the month of October, while Nataša takes over the care of all business aspects of the company.

as2con brand grows through the engineering activities of Sören and Alan. Clients at that time involve e.g. IHC of the Netherlands and Akeryards of Finland. In parallel, olive tree orchard is planted as a separate investment segment.
2007

Development of ng.zine collaborative and concurrent engineering system is initiated. Strong partnership is set-up with BVB d.o.o. of Croatia in the field of engineering software development.
2008

Nataša and Alan move back to Croatia in August, and set up an office in Rijeka. Nataša successfully defends her doctoral thesis at HANKEN. Large analysis contracts are executed with DELTAMARIN of Finland and KRALJEVICA shipyard of Croatia.
2009

as2con is awarded two FP7 EU-funded research projects: CO-PATCH on composite repairs of steel ship hulls and SAFE-WIN on safe navigation in compressive ice. Sören successfully defends his doctoral thesis at Aalto university. Business expands; new employees join the team. A large contract is executed with IHC BV. Revenue reaches 1 million HRK.
2010

as2con is awarded an FP7 EU project ULYSSES on design of tankers and bulkers for CO2 friendly ultra slow shipping.

New, innovative ship design software CAFE, developed by BVB is offered to the market. Business expands into new areas. Partnership is thus formed with Navtec Marine d.o.o. and R-Shipping, both from Croatia.

Ship repair services using advanced composite material technology are set-up; contracts involve composite overlay repair of piping and tank plating for Tankerska Plovidba of Croatia, Grand Circle Corporation of USA and Grimaldi Group of Italy.

High performance carbon fibre sail-boat production is started, as well as the production of composite components.

Alveus d.o.o. invests also into the Internet by supporting further development of http://www.nautica-portal.com

Oleum Alveus, a high-end olive oil, reaches the market.
- 30 employees now operate at the company. List of clients surpasses 30. Revenues are expected at 2,3 million HRK.
2011

project VITAR23: Šček-Cindrić design studio and as2con cooperate in production of the first Croatian trimaran VITAR23 (www.vitar23.com). as2con's role in this project is construction of the prototype, further serial production and marketing of the project.
